Posted by admin On March - 30 - 2011

The ‘COPS’ (USDOJ (800)-421-6770) provide ‘A Parents Quick Reference Guide’ to help recognize and prevent their child’s gang involvement. The warning signs and suggestions for prevention below are NOT all encompassing and some musical preferences and popular clothing, etc, common among youth are not necessarily indications at all.

Parents are encouraged by the ‘COPS’ and FBI Youth programs to be vigilant and to familiarize themselves with local gang symbols, seek help early, and consider contacting school personnel, local law enforcement, faith leaders and community organization for additional assistance.

· Shows an unusual interest in one or two particular colors of clothing or a particular logo.

· Has an unusual interest in gangster-influenced music, videos, movies, or websites.

· Uses unusual hand signals to communicate with friends.

· Has specific drawings or gang symbols on school books, clothes, walls, or tattoos

· Comes home with unexplained physical injuries (fighting-related bruises, injuries to hand/knuckles)

· Has unexplained cash or goods, such as clothing or jewelry

· Carries a weapon

· Exhibits negative changes in behavior such as: Withdrawing from family, Declining school attendance, performance, behavior

· Staying out late without reason

· Displaying an unusual desire for secrecy

· Exhibiting signs of drug use

· Breaking rules consistently

· Speaking in gang style slang

What Parents Can do to prevent Gang Involvement:

*Spend quality time with your child.

*Get involved in childs school activities.

*Take Action & create a neighborhood alliance, report & remove graffiti, etc.

*Be a positive role model by example.

*Know your child’s friends & families.

*Encourage good study habits.

*Teach your child to cope with peer pressure.

*Help your child develop good conflict/resolution skills as found at safe youth org.

*Encourage your child to participate in after school activities with adult supervision.

*Talk to your child about the dangers and consequences of gang involvement. Let your child know you do not want to see them hurt or arrested.

Explain that they should NOT:

1. Associate with gang members.

2. Attend parties or social events sponsored by gangs.

3. They should not use hand signs, symbols or languages that is meaningful to gangs.

4. NOT wear clothing including specific colors that may have meaning to gangs in the area.

I’m writing a story and it’s involves gang members. What are the common rankings used in gangs, like G, O.G, etc.? What do gang members have to do to get promoted in the ranks? I read somewhere that ranks are based on number of years served. Is that true? Is there any other way gangs members can get promoted, maybe based on the severity of the crimes they’ve committed?

Gangs are classified by race. In Los Angeles, there are black gangs which ususally consist of Bloods or Crips, Latino gangs like 18th street and Ms 13, Asian gangs like the Wachinks, Asian Boyz, and Bahalana, and Samoan Gangs like Sons of Samoa or S.O.S. which are usually structured similarly to black gangs in that the too are either Bloods or Crips.
One thing that all these gangs have in common is that when you join, you are expected to commit some sort of violent act towards a rival gang, ie. shooting, murder, assault, stabbing etc., this is known as "putting in work". Until you have put in work, you will not gain respect in your gang or "hood". There are usually no ranking systems per se, but in the gang community, everyone knows who is who and what they have done for the gang. Another way gangmembers earn the respect of their fellow members is doing time in prison. Depending on where he’s done time, how long, and what he’s done inside the prison, ie. assaulting snitches, sex offenders, enemies, and mafia dropouts, this can be very uplifting to his career. If the gang member continues putting in work or gangbanging upon release, this will even further his gang career and earn him even more respect.
Other ways to earn respect include but not not limited to: Donating weapons, discipline to fellow members that have made mistakes usually by a beating of 2 or more other members, assigning rookies to "jobs" like robberies, selling drugs, spraypainting walls to mark territory, and recruiting other prospective members.
Black gangs decades ago created the term "Baby G" and O.G. (which stands for Original Gangster). The Latter is earned after putting in work or doing time in prison, while the former is similar to being a private when you join the army. You are a rookie hence you are a "Baby G" or baby gangster.

We are developing a website for bikers and we need data on new bikes and bikes for sale. Can anyone tell me how to get the data for it?

Did Notorious Prison Gangs Sway Puerto Rican Elections?

Posted by admin On March - 28 - 2011

In a hotly contested 2004 general election that was reminiscent of the 2000 Presidential race, the Puerto Rico Elections Commission (CEE) declared Popular Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate Anibal Acevedo Vila the winner. Yet, information has come to light that points to the possibility that the governor may have been elected due to the power of a prison gang.

Unlike the U.S. Penal Code, which prohibits convicted felons from voting in U.S. elections, Puerto Rico’s laws allow prisoners to vote. According to confidential sources, in the 2004 gubernatorial election, Puerto Rican prison gangs pressured the commonwealth’s 14,000 inmates to vote for Acevedo Vila, afraid that his rival Pedro Rossello would upset the balance of drug trafficking and corruption among correctional officers and police that had become the status quo.

With incumbent Vila defeating New Progressive Party candidate Pedro Rossello by slightly over 3,000 votes, the Puerto Rico Herald noted that State Elections Commission President Aurelio Gracia “ordered that the 3,036 disputed prisoner votes be counted. PDP Elections Commissioner Gerardo Cruz estimates that 60% of those votes are for Acevedo Vila. The PDP attributes the votes to the prisoners’ reaction to Rossello’s campaign comments implying that he might deny the vote to them if elected.”

In fact, the notorious Neta prison gang not only allegedly swayed the election, but the gang’s leader was also subject to a federal grand jury investigation into an alleged contract between he and Puerto Rico’s Department of Corrections. According to government sources, the contract was one that guaranteed that prison officials would overlook heroin trafficking in exchange for the prisoner vote.

Despite a 2003 Federal Bureau of Investigation indictment against 18 people – including Neta gang members – alleged to have “conspired to purchase multi-kilogram quantities of heroin, cocaine and detectable amounts of marijuana to be smuggled and then distributed into prison institutions within Puerto Rico,” prison gangs continued to peddle drugs and to have unprecedented influence within the Puerto Rican prison system.

Despite sting operations that uncovered active drug trafficking participation by scores of police and correctional officers, prison gang members continued to use prisoner drug addiction and rioting as their primary tools in controlling the prison population and negotiating with authorities. And, according to government sources, that’s precisely why the gangs and many prison officials had a significant stake in shutting down and keeping out prison rehabilitation programs.

The Second Chance Program (www.secondchanceprogram.net) was one such rehabilitation effort that was shut out of the Puerto Rican prison system, despite its resounding success. Designed to rehabilitate criminals and prevent them from re-entering the penal system, the program worked within the Puerto Rican prison system for a year and a half, with approximately 250 inmates enrolled in the program. When the inmates were drug tested after participating in the program, 87 percent were found to be drug-free. According to an inmate, an August 2004 bust of $1 million worth of heroin was attributable to the Second Chance Program’s pressure to reduce the use of the drug in the prison. That same source reported that the Bayamon Prison hospital is the central distribution center for heroin in that region’s prisons. “The heroin was smuggled in and then distributed by the inmates who came to the hospital from all over the region,” he said.

Another inmate source confirmed the report, and added that the Neta gang put pressure on the Secretary of Corrections not to renew the contract with Second Chance as a final payment for the inmate vote. “It went down just like that,” he said. “Second Chance was out of there, and the PDP won the election.”

Today bikers are trend setters. Gone are the days when their typical trademark was their big black boots, leather gloves and heavy chains and rings. But now they are very stylish and prefer to dress in sport wear. They love wearing trendy shoes, and designer sport t-shirts and jeans. They wear funky elbow and knee caps of different colors and styles to sport their look. But what we haven’t been able to decipher, is whether their traditional look, with boots and gloves were a necessity or just a fashion statement.

Riding a bike is very risky as one is susceptible or prone to accidents very often. It is important to be very careful while riding. Wearing proper protection, such as helmets to protect ourselves, is a must. However, traditional bikers believe that their big boots were a part of their safety gear.

While riding most bikers get burnt and bruised a lot by the exhaust pipe, which results in, blisters and large scar marks. These severe marks and blisters take weeks to heal, sometimes leaving a permanent mark. Bikers are of the opinion that big boots cover and protect their legs from the exhaust pipe, which makes them less prone to injury and scars. They even used to make the passengers wear boots to cover their legs from the heat of the exhaust pipe.

Traditionally bikers wear helmets and boots as well as heavy clothing, like big jackets, gloves, heavy pants and so on, which would protect them, or rather reduce their injuries if they fall. Research has proved that leather can save a riders skin from the asphalt. Thus they prefer to wear leather gear while riding a bike, as it lessens the impact of the fall or burn.

Traditional bikers, swear by leather boots, jackets, pants, and gloves. They often ridicule the new fashion of wearing trendy sports gear, while riding. They believe in safety first and do not bother with specific looks or fashion while riding. They don’t believe in fashionable sports gear, because according to them, a true biker would know the necessity and importance of safety, rather than giving importance to the look.

For traditional bikers, fashion means leather accessories, which gives them a mean, tough and nasty imagine, that they enjoy. They favor a rock star imagine, making them look like the typical biker image. Even in the blazing heat, during the months of summer, they sport their leather look, as it has become their style statement.

Traditional bikers not only believe in the necessity of boots, but also like to wear boots as a part of they fashion statement. They would never go without it. Apart from the look, new bikers are always advised to wear boots, to protect their legs from the scorching exhaust pipe. If they refuse, only one burn will teach them a lesson. A true biker loves his boots and would do anything to wear them all the time.

What do bikers do when it is raining outside?

Posted by admin On March - 26 - 2011

I am thinking about selling my car and buying a Harley Davidson for about $6,000. But I was then struck with the question of what would happen when it rains. Do bikers wear rain suits? Is it hard to drive a bike in the rain, when compared to doing so in a car. How does a bike stand up to the elements and rainwater. Thanks for your input.

Riding in the rain os OK if your bike has good tyres. Worn ones will skid if you brake hard. Wear a good set of waterproof boots, gloves and a suit, can be either one piece or two. (two if your a girl, it’s easier to use the ladies room) Your visor may mist up so get plenty of wax polish on the outside then the rain will blow away, put some washing up liquid on the inside and misting wont occur. Harleys will rust like mad as the chrome is not good quality. Use a good wax polish or Armoural on parts that will get wet. DO NOT GET IT ON THE BRAKING SYSTEM or TYRES. Get the chain well lubed up. It’s easy to wet ride but allow 4 seconds in between you and vehicle in front as your stopping speed increases.

Beware Gangs of Time Thieves are on the Prowl

Tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock…

Right. No time for hanging around today.

Lots to do, so let’s get organized.

First things first.

Make a list.

Now where’s my note pad. I know I left it here somewhere.

Isn’t it amazing how things just disappear around here?

I can’t find it. This little scrap of paper will do.

Right, my list.

Number 1.

I must do that costing for Jenny.

Number 2.

Call John about the sales meeting.

Number 3.

Chase up Bill to see if he has that information I asked for.

The phone rings.

Who’s that now?

“Andrew, It’s Jenny. Have you started that costing?”

“It’s on the top of my work list” I reply.

“I need it by tomorrow morning”

“I thought the deadline was next Tuesday”

“No”

“Well I am sure that’s what you told me”

“Well I need it for tomorrow morning”

“No matter”, sighing, “I have all the figures in my head. Bye Jenny”

You put the phone down. You let out an even a bigger sigh.

Now where was I?

Oh yes, the to-do list.

Number 3.

Chase up Bill to see if he has that information I asked for.

Number 4.

Ring the Customer Services department – something about complaints! What was it? Oh never mind it will come back to me.

Jim appears, next to my desk.

“You coming to this departmental meeting, then?

“Oh no, it completely slipped my mind”

“Where’ the agenda? Do you have one, Jim?”

“Yep”

“Oh, let me copy it on the way – thanks”

Quick slurp of the cold coffee.

“I hope it’s a quick meeting – I have so much to do”

3 hours later.

“What a waste of time that was”

“Why did you take on all those action points, don’t you have enough to do already?” Jim asks.

“Well if I don’t do them, who will?”

“I can help. I have some capacity”, says Jim

“Thanks for the offer but by the time I have explained to you what to do, I would have completed them myself. Anyway I must get on, see you later”

“Ok”

Quick look at the emails.

I don’t believe it. Twenty new ones to read and deal with.

I haven’t even started the things on my list.

Where is the list, anyway?

Work, work, work.

It’s now 19.10.

The phone rings.

“Oh, hi darling. Just about to leave now and catch the 19.30 train. Bye, bye, got to go. Bye. Love you”

Put some papers in the briefcase – I could read them on the train.

Turn off the pc.

You are walking out the door.

Your desk phones rings.

You look back.

Do you answer it?

Do you ignore it?

It could be your wife.

You decide to answer it.

It’s Nick from the warehouse.

“Hi Andrew. How was your holiday?”

“Good thanks. Feels like I’ve never had one. How can I help?”

“Can you resend me those warehouse space figures you sent me a couple of days ago?”

“What now?”

“Yeah, if you could, Peter the big chief requires them and you would be a star”

“OK”

You turn on the pc.

You can’t find the email…you miss the train…

Any of this sound familiar?

Have you experienced similar situations?

What do you do to get things done?

Biker’s Revelations

Posted by admin On March - 26 - 2011

I have loved motorcycles from the moment I have mounted on it
and roam around the neighborhood. Even though it has caused me
several falls, bruises and injuries still, I consider it as a
passion. I like the feel of dominion. The way I can control
power and speed. Learning to control something that was, at
first, frightening is satisfying.

Learning to control the motorcycle involves both physical and
mental prowess. To make turns, rider must lean forward to fight
the forces of acceleration and lean backward to fight the forces
of deceleration. Concentration is likewise essential so as to
focus on the road and other factors that may affect the ride.

Knowing the needs of the bike and knowing your own needs is a
good starting ground. The bike must be treated as an extension
of the rider’s mind and body. It must respond to the rider’s
command and will.

Motorcycles are universally appealing. Young and old alike are
fascinated by the thrill and fun that they are offering. It is
different to riding cars in the sense that the involvement with
the machine brings greater joy to riders. Involvement makes it
more addicting. It is as if you are riding with a vehicle
equipped with manual transmission. Whatever the consequences of
your command are, you will also be part of it.

Your body, your mind are united to achieve a goal and a
destination. If those objectives are met, no matter how hard the
journey, no matter how perilous the adventure was, it still pays
off when you get it!

Skilled riders come in waves. Some young amateurs are now even
replacing the guys on top. However, the latter will not put up
an easy battle. I am seeing a brighter future in the riding
community..
